Principal & Founder
Trevor's practice is focused on business and entertainment law. His experience as in-house counsel and in private practice allows him to have a unique perspective that translates to practical and effective representation. Trevor is a shepherd for his clients and works closely with each of them to advise on all matters relating to their businesses.
After law school, Trevor worked for a real estate and business firm in New York City where he handled residential and commercial property transactions, business formations, and a variety of other governance and compliance matters. From there, he transitioned to an in-house counsel position at a publicly-traded entertainment and media company with offices in New York City and Los Angeles. For several years, he learned from some of the brightest and most well-respected attorneys in the industry; each of whom had their own specialties (e.g., tax, labor and employment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial transactions, intellectual property, etc.). Trevor's experience working with different practice groups gave him the ability to issue spot on both a macro and micro level. His diverse skill-set, undeniable work-ethic, and network of connections creates a powerful formula for tackling even the most challenging legal problems.
In 2018, Trevor moved to Buffalo and began working for one of the largest law firms in the area, dealing exclusively with business matters. He then went on to establish Mattice Legal in 2020.
Nicholas' practice is focused on commercial transactions and intellectual property matters. He is exceptionally detail-oriented and thorough in his approach.
Nicholas served on the Moot Court and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Boards during law school, and was honored with the 2020 Alternative Dispute Award. He was the champion in the ABA’s 2019 Region Negotiation Competition and a quarterfinalist in the ABA’s 2019 National Negotiation Competition. He was also the recipient of the Patrick Henry Award; an honor that recognizes students demonstrating high academic achievement, leadership within the legal studies arena, and dedication to the principles of life, liberty, duty, and honor.
Prior to joining Mattice Legal, Nicholas founded his own law firm to assist small businesses with transactional and intellectual property matters. He has also served on the support staff of the Judiciary Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, volunteered for an intellectual property clinic, clerked for several local law offices, and taught undergraduate-level paralegal studies at Liberty University as an adjunct instructor.
Gerry is well-known in the legal and sports community, particularly in Western New York and Southern Ontario. Gerry is a former professional athlete who played twelve (12) professional seasons in the National Hockey League and affiliated clubs, including the Buffalo Sabres.
Following his athletic career, Gerry performed various roles in the local legal and sports community, first as an associate attorney, then as assistant general manager, associate counsel, and secretary to the parent company of the Buffalo Sabres, the Niagara Frontier Hockey Corporation. In his capacity as general manager of the Sabres from 1986 through 1993, then as executive vice president of sports operations 1993-95, Gerry supervised the activities of all NFHC sports operations, including the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Buffalo Blizzard, Rochester Americans, and was a key member of the corporate planning group for the Crossroads Arena (now Key Bank Center). Gerry left the Sabres organization at the conclusion of the Knox ownership in 1996 to form his own sports consulting company based in Toronto. As chairman and counsel to Cardinal Sports Management Ltd., he took the lead in the founding and management of three sports organizations, Cardinal Consultants, Pointstreak Sports Technologies, and Sutton Medical Technologies, each of which created successful technological innovations required to manage sports information systems, athletes’ healthcare and tax planning for professional sports organizations.
In recent years, Gerry has focused his activities on professional athletes in their transition from competitive life to life after sports. These activities include identifying educational opportunities and legal counseling services on Social Security, Medicare, insurance and financial matters, as well as US immigration issues faced by international athletes. His practice at Mattice Legal focuses on these matters, as well as the representation of companies with innovative sports-related technology solutions.
